July is American Grown Flowers Month
Celebrating Our Growers. Supporting Our Industry.
July is American Grown Flowers Month. It’s a time to honor the farmers, designers, wholesalers, and everyone in between who help bring the beauty of locally grown flowers to life.
At Florabundance, we’re proud to be a Certified American Grown wholesaler and an active member of the Slow Flowers movement. We’re known for offering “everything under the sun,” with an ever-evolving assortment of premium cut flowers and foliage. Our products are thoughtfully sourced from both domestic and international farms. But this month, our focus is on U.S. growers and the seasonal treasures they provide.
How We’re Celebrating American Grown Flowers Month
This July, Florabundance is joining the national floral community in a four-part celebration of American Grown Flowers. We’re inviting florists, designers, and studios across the country to join us in highlighting the passion and expertise behind every American-grown stem.
1. Spotlight on American-Grown Varieties
We’re starting the month by showcasing standout selections from our U.S.-based partners.
You’ll see fragrant sweet peas, vibrant sunflowers, strawberry blonde sunflowers, and elegant bearded iris.
We’re also highlighting delicate cosmos, campanula, limonium, delphinium, purple larkspur, yarrow, and fresh-cut blackberry fruit clusters.

2. Stories from the Field
Florabundance proudly partners with farms of all sizes across the country. From March through October, more than 70 percent of our inventory is sourced domestically. Many of these flowers are transported directly from farm to our facility by water, which is an efficient and more sustainable shipping method.

Each stem we carry is grown with care by people who love what they do. American-grown flowers bring freshness, seasonality, and quality that you can feel in every bunch.
3. Educate and Advocate
American consumers spend over 27 billion dollars a year on floral products. Yet only about 20 percent of those flowers are grown in the U.S. That’s why we’re raising awareness about the value of domestic sourcing. Supporting American-grown flowers means investing in rural communities, artisan growers, and floral diversity. It also supports sustainable practices.

Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing fast facts, economic insights, and sustainability highlights to help build awareness among both professionals and consumers.
4. Celebrate the Movement
We’re ending the month with a national call to action:
We Are American Grown.
Post a photo from your cooler, your design bench, or your favorite local farm. Let’s celebrate what it means to source locally and design seasonally.

A Look Back and a Look Forward
Over the past few decades, the global floral market has changed. Starting in the 1980s, American growers faced increased pressure from imports, rising oil prices, and shifting logistics. Countries with ideal growing climates and lower production costs, like Colombia and Ecuador, began to dominate the U.S. market. Today, about 80 percent of the cut flowers sold in the U.S. are imported.
Despite those changes, the American flower farming community is growing. Certifications like Certified American Grown and networks like Slow Flowers are helping to rebuild awareness, promote transparency, and strengthen domestic production.
Our Commitment at Florabundance
Florabundance has proudly held the Certified American Grown designation since 2019. We source from farms across the United States, working with growers who care deeply about quality, sustainability, and seasonality.
While we do source globally to maintain year-round availability, we prioritize American-grown flowers whenever possible. Our team is always happy to help you find what’s fresh, local, and in season.
That Flower Feeling: Everyday Wellness
Florabundance is a proud supporter of That Flower Feeling, the national awareness campaign created by CalFlowers. The message is simple but powerful:
Flowers. Self-care made easy.
The initiative encourages people to enjoy flowers not just for special events, but as an everyday part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle. A new campaign is launching this fall, and we’re excited to help amplify it.
As a designer or shop owner, you play an important role in making flowers feel accessible. This is your chance to reframe flowers as something people can enjoy daily—not just occasionally.
