This time of year finds much of the country still trying to unleash winters grip and enjoy the first signs of spring. While the Daffodils and Crocus are just now pushing their way up from a long winters rest, our customers are more than ready for a taste of spring! When most customers think of spring flowers, they think Tulips, Daffodils, and Hyacinth’s to welcome the change of season. What great flowers to use in your everyday design work. Vases filled with mono-botanical stylings of fresh spring flowers make a grand statement for your customers to enjoy. Because Daffodils secrete a fluid that reduces the shelf life of Tulips, they are best enjoyed in vases by themselves. Add a few touches of grasses such as Lily Grass or Bear Grass and you have a very low labor; high end looking presentation. Tulips and Hyacinth’s also look fantastic displayed in tall clear glass vases that the entire stem drops into so the stems now have a protection and will continue to grow upward toward the light. Add a few polished river rocks in the bottom and a few stems of grass into the vases and this gives a high impact look with a minimal amount of flowers and foliages. By featuring the vases in different heights and diameters, it gives the customer an opportunity to combine several sizes and shapes to create their own tablescape. Mix some vases of tulips, Daffodils and Hyacinth’s for the spring look and accent with vases of Oriental Lilies, Bells of Ireland, and Iris to interface some additional textures and infuse vibrant colors.
Don’t forget to feature blooming branches in your presentation. This is a great time for flowering Quince, Pink Cherry Blossoms, vibrant yellow Forsythia and Prunus. These all add not only the color, but add additional height in the tablescape.
Suggest a mix of shapes such as cylinders and cubes for a more interesting appearance. Unite the look with polished River Rocks placed in between the vases and add some colorful votive candles and you have a dynamic ‘Did It Myself’ type look.
